I use a variety energy psychology tools, including EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and AIT (Advanced Integrative Therapy). While EFT uses tapping on meridian points, AIT works through the chakras. I have found AIT to be a profound, yet gentle and deep transformative healing process. It is based in Jungian depth psychology and works with healing traumas and wounds that get held in our energy systems, specifically our chakras. AIT helps us return and connect to our center, which is our source of true wisdom, intuition, wholeness and well-being. AIT is the main energy psychology modality I use, as I have seen the best results for myself and my clients with this method.
I incorporate energy medicine exercises to support the energy psychology work we do. For trauma to be processed and moved through, our energies need to be balanced and in harmony with our heart & soul’s highest good. We will explore the energies of the aura, meridians, chakras, electrics, Celtic weave and triple warmer (fight/flight/freeze). These practices may include any of the following: specific exercises & techniques, holding and/or massaging points, using hands on the body or off the body (in the field) to guide energies into their natural and optimal flow. Working with these energy systems will support you in every aspect of life.
Soma means “of the body”. Emotions live in our bodies and we need processes to help feel, move and release these emotions. We will use somatic practices to gently come into the body and show the body it is safe to experience emotions. Through somatic practices, you will learn to tune into and feel where emotions live in your body and learn to identify when emotions are stuck or blocked and how to not only be with your emotions, but also how to safely navigate challenging emotional states. We will also explore your different your parts and how these parts may hold conflicting or contradictory feelings and experiences. For example, you may have a 15 year old part who’s angry and sullen, while also having a 3 year old part who feels scared and alone. We will look at the roles these parts play in your life, how they show up, what their purpose is and where they tend to live in your body. We will use somatic tools to help these parts feel safe so they can be integrated within your center.
These practices are derived from applied neurology and specifically work with the brain and nervous system to build safety, increased capacity and nervous system regulation. We will use tools and drills to address deficits in the visual, vestibular, proprioceptive, interoceptive, respiratory and somatosensory systems. We will work specifically with inputs (the systems listed above) to affect outputs, which include symptoms such as pain, fatigue, chronic illness, anxiety and depression. These systems are important to address because we cannot be in performance mode when our bodies are in survival mode. We must establish safety in our bodies to achieve our goals and desired states of being.
Our work together will be a collaborative process. During each session, we will identify and treat current triggers impacting your daily life. We will also excavate and explore the root causes of current triggers. These may be traumas or wounds from any previous time in your life and often date back to early childhood or even pre-conception. We will use energy testing to accurately identify and treat these experiences, which will allow the release of their hold on you. Energy testing is a method based in applied kinesiology. It is a diagnostic tool in which we ask the body and the subconscious for accurate information about the challenges you face. Our conscious mind is often trying to protect us from the truth of what is at the root of our struggles, but we can access this truth through energy testing, as the body doesn’t lie. You can think of energy testing as a biofeedback tool. It is also known as muscle testing, but this implies we are testing the actual strength of a muscle and what we are really testing is the energy running through that muscle.
Energy testing will then guide us in the process of using various treatment modalities. You will leave each session feeling heard, held and understood. You will also leave each session with self-care practices and exercises to engage in between sessions that will further our work and your progress toward alleviating symptoms, transforming trauma and returning to the wholeness of your heart and soul! In addition to our sessions, I will occasionally provide you with worksheets and/or videos of specific exercises for you to practice between sessions. Each session also comes with two text or voice check-ins through a private What’s App chat. I recommend committing to a 6 month container of working together, as we will be engaging in deep work. However, you are not held to a specific number of sessions or length of time. Sometimes, people reach their specific goals for our work together in a short amount of time and, other times, people who have a more complex trauma history will continue our work for a year or more. While I may offer recommendations, I respect each person’s autonomy and agency in determining when our work is complete.
